Homemade Applesauce

Prep time: 15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Fill a Dutch oven with apples, vinegar, and water and cook over low heat. Stir the mixture for about four minutes until the apples begin to soften. Then cover and simmer on low heat.

After simmering for about 10 minutes, add cinnamon and salt. Stir, cover, and simmer for 10 to 20 minutes. Check on and stir the mixture periodically; you’ll know it’s done when the apples are very soft and easily mashable.

Next, take the pot off of the stove and mash the apples to your desired consistency. If you prefer your applesauce to be very smooth, you can blend or pulse in a food processor.

Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy with a glass of Torresella Prosecco Rosé.
